Linearity is one of the preferred measurements for monitoring the effectivity of your Lean manufacturing line. Measured over time, the linearity measurement records how production overage and shortages affect the linear production of your Lean line. Linear production is one of the key measurements for eliminating the number one waste in manufacturing- overproduction. It compares the daily sequenced daily rate with actual completions on the Lean line. Both positive and negative deviations from the daily rate are factored into the measurement. Linearity is measured each day.

This spreadsheet tracks linearity on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis based on daily input/output reporting.
