The Lean school is designed for project team members who need to learn the Lean technologies prior to beginning their company’s Lean business transformation project. The Mfg. Matters Lean school is over 16 hours of classroom lecture spread over several days interspersed with sessions of practical application of those concepts (Gemba) right on the student’s own shop floor. Students begin by working on their own shop floor transformation project under the supervision of their instructor. This format is excellent for companies looking to kick-off their own transformation projects or companies looking to re-energize their current transformation efforts.
Following the Applied Lean Workshop, the 7 sessions of the workshop are broken-up by visits to the student’s own shop floor where they actually begin their transformation projects based on classroom lecture. This format allows the student to instantly put lecture material into practical application without having to learn the entire workshop material over two days in a classroom. Students are assigned to their appropriate steering, materials, or process teams based on their professional skills and disciplines. Team milestone activities are assigned to the appropriate team and information gathering activities are started right away. The Lean School is designed to be a “learn by doing” training exercise where Lean concepts and techniques are re-enforced through actual practice. A sponsoring company will also receive the complete PowerPoint presentation that can be used for future Lean training sessions by their own internal staff members. In addition, the Multi-Product Line Design Process Map and Kanban Sizing Process Map & Summary Report will be supplied at no charge to the transformation teams.
