Not every resource in a Lean factory can be dedicated to the Lean manufacturing line. Because of purchase cost, size, or environmental factors, some resources just cannot be relocated. Therefore, these resources are typically “shared” with other manufacturing locations within the Lean manufacturing production area.
To assure replenishment quantity integrity and maintain the correct production priority of the shared resource, the multiple card kanban system provides the best solution for achieving these criteria. The calculator is a spreadsheet program that calculates the number of containers and the associated cards used to signal replenishment production at a shared resource in a Lean factory.
